Individual Psychotherapy

Insight oriented psychotherapy opens a conversation to gain new awareness about the origins of your conflicts and the unconscious meaning and motivation behind behaviors and symptoms that may be keeping you stuck. In a collaborative process I listen to your narrative carefully and empathically. I ask simple questions to stimulate new ways of thinking and expand on your internal dialogue. The intention is for you to find a fresh perspective so you can live more consciously in the present. This leads to wider options with the freedom to self actualize and find greater fulfillment.  We may observe our relationship as a reference point for dynamics that occur in your interpersonal relationships. You set the pace so you're comfortable and I tailor treatment to your unique needs and preferences. Read More

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)

With trauma the brain functions are overwhelmed resulting in an undigested "fight, flight, or freeze" response. Re-experiencing events in flashbacks and nightmares, anxiety, and numbing may continue long after the experience is over. EMDR uses eye movements, tapping, or other forms of bilateral stimulation to reprocesses memories and experiences with present day adaptive information. EMDR is an integrative method to alleviate the stress of an overloaded nervous system and to deepen and accelerate healing of complex grief, trauma, phobias, low self esteem and performance anxiety. I have witnessed profound transformation using this method. Please see EMDR for more information. Read More

Bereavement Counseling

Sometimes losses are too painful to mourn alone. I have experience helping people cope and grieve parental, sibling, and spousal loss, pregnancy loss, intergenerational illness, and divorce. Losses can be anticipated, hidden, catastrophic, as well as traumatic. Many people suffer multiple losses and the most recent loss may stir up earlier losses. Please see Bereavement Counseling for more information on my thinking and approach. Read More

Couples Counseling

Relationships are a primary source of life satisfaction, they define and enrich us, yet they can become so painful. If you're experiencing conflicts, disconnection, or a loss of passion couples counseling can help. Perhaps children and busy careers, finances or sex have become sources of conflict? Improving communication skills can get you back on track with mutual empathy, cooperation, and teamwork. We focus on understanding how your past may be living in your present relationship, where triggers are stemming from, and how to develop an open dialogue where your communication feels safe, and you feel heard and understood without judgement or blame. This makes for greater intimacy and a stronger connection for closer bonding. Read More

Work Life Balance For Creative Arts And Corporate Professionals

My corporate background in the Arts informs my work with creative and corporate professionals and understanding of the inherent challenges of balancing career demands with personal and family values. I use many creative vehicles such as gestalt empty chair work, and Psychodrama techniques when it suits your needs. Imagery is used in EMDR to create safety and comfort, with peaceful, serene, and relaxed body states.
